Dan Kastrul has always been intensely curious to learn more about his ancestry. Testing his own DNA has helped him find long “lost” branches of his family tree and reconnect with people in those branches. Although he is not a geneticist, he has successfully helped adoptees find their biological parents through a combination of DNA evidence and good old fashioned genealogy research. His focus will be on practical, street smart approaches for helping figure out how to connect to all of those unfamiliar names and faces on your DNA match list. “I’ve looked at enough matches to make most people dizzy and am confident that many people in attendance will show up on a DNA test as distantly related to me, as well as to one another.” Dan will bring this topic to life by exploring with the participants some of our previously unknown DNA connections with one another.
